ABOUT ME

I'm Akacius Vegh from Hungary, Tata. I am a self-taught sculptor. I make carbon fiber composites sculptures mainly tree theme with a "modern impressionist" approach.

The desire to create has been in me since childhood. In the beginning, I created on paper that things what interested me, but it was always a little bit feeling of lack. I felt that I had to make things tangible. Thanks to my parents – who are both ceramic artists – I received a great help quickly: that was the clay. This way I could shape imaginary things into real objects.

I've loved the sport fairinged motorcycle since I was a child. In my street, there lived a motorcycle fairing repair master. When I was about 10 years old, I saw him a few times working on a fairing with a strange - like a "cotton swab" - material. One day, while me passing by his house, I found a piece of this material on the ground and brought it home. As a child, I found it very interesting, but I didn't know what was it and I asked my dad what it could be: he knew it was glass fiber. This was my first encounter with composite materials.

When I was about 15 years old, I got a small motorbike, which I made for a little tailfairing according to the master instructions. This was my first composite part.

Then I immersed myself in the world of composite materials and continued to move in this direction, both in my own business and in terms of self-expression. Following this path and learning more about composites technology (in Budapest Technology College, Donat Banki Faculty of Mechanical and Safety Engineering  and self-development at the same time ), I reached the high-end level: the carbon fiber. I was completely captivated by the holographic shine as well as the timeless radiance of this material, and I immediately loved it.

This material is one of the main materials of modern sport vehicles and minimalist-luxury devices, which is a big challenge to produce and requires a great knowledge to handle this material, whether it is about designing or production. I managed to high level of the manufacturing thanks to several exclusive projects: such as a personailzed gold rings with carbon fiber inlay (in collaboration with a jeweler), carbon fiber jewellery and a carbon fiber-gold watch project. Thanks to this, I started experimenting to create my sculptures with my own ideas.

In addition to my passion for technology and carbon fiber, I really enjoy hiking in nature. While hiking, I am often amazed by the diversity of trees. Trees change with the seasons, it always gives a special feeling, and this is what I found in the "tree of life motif" which is reflected in my sculptures. The meeting of these lines gave me the inspiration to share these feelings with people.

I hope that when the people contemplate the sculptures when life is difficult, they will be given strength, or if everything is going well, they will be grateful.
